Telco Cloud Infrastructure: Core Concepts and Deployment
This Learning Path focuses on building Telco Cloud Infrastructure, starting with the foundational concepts of Linux for telco workloads, including file systems, networking, and process management. You'll progress to deploying containerized applications using Docker tailored for telecommunications, followed by orchestrating telco-specific workloads with Kubernetes. Through hands-on labs, you'll explore topics such as CNFs (Cloud-Native Functions), network slicing, and scaling telco services, equipping you with the skills to design and manage cloud-native telco infrastructures.

Learning Path Flow:
Lab Architecture:
This Hands-on Training consists of access to a hands-on lab to practice and will guide students through a series of exercises and mini-projects that cover essential Linux concepts. Students will learn how to use the command line, navigate the file system, configure network services, secure the system and much more.
Lab Objectives:
- Understand the history of operating systems and their ecosystem, especially Linux.
- Understand the functionalities and advantages provided by the Linux system.
- Use basic Linux terminal commands.
- Manage file access rights and ownership.
- Understand the concept of processes and scheduled tasks.
- Use monitoring tools to monitor system performance.
- Understand networking concepts and configure network interfaces.
- Ensure the security of a Linux system through concrete actions.
Lab Architecture:
This Hands-on Training consists of a Docker environment and an all-in-one Kubernetes cluster. You will use a Telco application in this environment.
Lab Objectives:
- Understanding container objectives.
- Understanding the basics of containers.
- Creating containers.
- Configuring containers.
- Managing volumes.
- Dockerfile management.
- Docker registries.
- Docker-compose Docker for telecom applications.
- Getting introduced to container orchestration with Kubernetes.
Lab Architecture:
This Hands-on Training consists of a Kubernetes cluster where you will create, customize, and deploy a cloud-native Telco application.
Lab Objectives:
- Outlook into the Telco cloud and the need for Kubernetes to drive innovation forward.
- Quick refresh about docker containers.
- Kubernetes initiation with Kubectl and the terminology around it.
- 5G standalone architecture and node reminder.
- Multi-node Kubernetes deployment constraints and deployment specification.
- Pods networking.
- Kubeshark: Understanding Kubernetes from the inside.
- Kubernetes rollout and rollback to manage your deployment in the face of changing software and config versions.
- Manage Kubernetes clusters with namespaces and RBAC.
- Data persistence in Kubernetes.
- Deploy a 5G core containerized inside K8s pods.
- Learn to use Helm: a standardized and declarative approach to defining Kubernetes applications and their configurations.
